Meet the Team

What countries does Svarmi operate in?

Our solution is in use globally. Our team has worked with clients across Europe, North America, South America, and Africa. Our headquarters are in Iceland.

What industries does Svarmi operate with?

Because of the nature of our software, DATACT, Svarmi is able to help any industry interested in monitoring their interactions with, their impact on as well as their dependencies on nature. Our current clients include major corporations in the food and beverage sector, the energy sector and the engineering sector.

What is DATACT?

DATACT is the place to store and view data on Nature. Whether it be the status of Nature such as species count, photos from the field, organic matter measurements e.g., or the pressures on nature such as land use change, pollution e.g. DATACT is a scalable and continuously enhanced data software and analytics platform, where companies can acquire, manage, and build decisions with very large datasets globally and create unparalleled insights for business decisions and risk management opportunities on an ongoing basis. Our software solution supports a clear journey towards nature positivity by turning multiple sources of earth observation data into usable risk assessment insights and reporting metrics. Through the software solution, our clients can onboard relevant data, including data collected by our teams and third-party data from satellites and local drone operators. This data can then be used for corporate decision making, mandatory nature reporting and more.

Who can use DATACT?

DATACT is available to and useful for many different stakeholders, but particularly those responsible for collecting data, analysing data, managing projects & permitting in greenfield areas or those needing access to data for tracking progress, managing resources and for reporting purposes. Our clients themselves choose the size and scope of their teams within DATACT and we have sharing features which enable view only and limited editing modes on certain datasets that can be shared by DATACT users both internally and externally.

Some of the people who use our platform include:

C-suite Executives (e.g., CEOs, CSOs, CFOs, COOs): Leverage DATACT to get a better understanding of the areas where they influence nature and progress they are making, supporting strategic decisions, resource allocation, and communication of environmental performance and impact to stakeholders.

Project Managers for Infrastructure or Land Use Projects: Use DATACT to manage environmental impact assessments, ensure compliance, and report on environmental performance for various projects.
Field experts: Collecting and processing super resolution 2D & 3D data of operated areas and storing field observations (various field measurements, pictures, notes).

Environmental/Nature/Sustainability Managers: Track and report on biodiversity metrics, such as habitat preservation and species protection, using DATACT.

CSR Managers: Track progress in biodiversity conservation and natural resource management as part of the organization's broader social and ethical initiatives.

Ecologists and other Nature Experts: Utilize DATACT to bridge the gap between field observations and other contributing colleagues on a project.

Architects, Engineers & Advisors: Easily access and stream or download datasets to use for designing buildings &  infrastructure and/or nature-based solutions.

How can new users learn to use DATACT?

Svarmi offers a dedicated and free at the point of use YouTube channel which provides walkthroughs of all the major features of DATACT, from logging in, to creating pins, to uploading your own data and more. Furthermore we are constantly updating the channel with new tutorials as we add more features to DATACT.

Svarmi also regularly runs courses throughout the year where participants are able to train on DATACT for a half or full day with a technical expert and ask any relevant questions. We also offer combined courses in DATACT and data collection (including drone data collection) for those interested in both data collection and data management. Further details on our courses and sign up information can be found here.

When DATACT is implemented Svarmi can provide you and your staff with more detailed workshops on how to use DATACT for your specific needs.

What kind nature data can be stored and viewed in DATACT?

DATACT puts you in control of your nature monitoring, focused on putting state of nature data into one central yet secure platform. Data concerning pollution, nature stresses and impacts and species counting can also be uploaded into our system. We also have the capacity to link DATACT to other databases to offer more powerful indexing around nature stresses and state of nature, for example forest loss, sensitive areas, water risk, and the monitoring of endangered species.

What are the advantages of keeping all your nature data in one place?

One of the main pieces of feedback we have received from clients is that data often gets “lost in excel sheets, pdf’s and on private folders” This can be problematic for two reasons. Firstly, this can result in a lack of internal cohesion in companies, where it is unclear what monitoring has taken place and where there is an unequal access to data. Furthermore, legislation is now being brought in that will make nature monitoring mandatory for companies doing business in the EU. DATACT simplifies data collection and analysis so it is easy for everyone in your company to have access to the same data and information. Data points can also be easily assessed over time within our software, allowing for compliance with new regulations and legislation.
